Sharman-Caselli Tarot: Two Cards

May 30, 2008

Today is our son’s 29th birthday. It has been two years now since he was married and moved to the Philadelphia area – we miss him and his wife so much. I remember so well the day he was born and the wonderful joy we both felt at having a child.

So, I decided to draw two cards from the Sharman-Caselli Tarot with the question in my mind – are things always going to be this way? Will all of us eventually be closer mentally and physically than we are now?

These are the two cards that showed up – The Wheel of Fortune and Temperance.

Fortune-Temperance

The first thing to take note of with these two cards is they are both from the Major Arcana so this message is very important and carries a lot of weight.

I can read many things in this small two card reading. Firstly, the Wheel of Fortune tells me of the inevitability of children growing up and moving away from home – it is part of the cycle of life. Then I can see that the wheel will keep turning and life will change again and, perhaps, our son and his wife will be closer to us spiritually if not physically. The Temperance card gives me great hope that as the Wheel of Fortune turns in the ongoing cycle of life we will build a harmonious, balanced relationship with our son and his wife which will bring joy to everyone.

They are so busy with their life now – buying and decorating a home, working and going to school. There is little time left for writing letters or talking on the phone. I think the Temperance card is saying that as the Wheel turns this will change and things will balance out and become much better than they are now.

The Temperance card is one of my favorite Tarot cards. Whenever it shows up, I feel lucky and blessed for some reason. So, this little reading has given me great hope and peace of mind that someday, we will have that warm, loving relationship with our son and his wife that we have missed so much since they moved away two years ago.

The Sharman-Caselli Tarot is one of my favorite Tarot decks – it was the one I used when I was first studying the tarot and I trust what it says to me.

    Hi Sammie,

This is a beautiful reading. I get the same feeling from your cards- a positive change that brings your relationship with your son and his wife back into perfect harmony.

Temperance always makes me think of two souls in tune, and I agree that it brings peace and blessings.

I hope you have a special day!

    Hi Aristede,

Thanks verymuch for your kind comment! I appreciate it.

These cards really did give me hope and peace of mind. I think when you have hope something will get better then you can works towards it without feeling – why bother.

Happy Birth-Day to you! (I think of birthdays as a celebration not only for the person who was born, but also to the one who gave birth and became a mother that day.)

The way you spoke of the Wheel representing the cycle of children growing up and moving on made me think that when the time comes for your son and daughter in law to have children, it might bring back more of that closeness between you. Sometimes it takes becoming a parent yourself to fully appreciate your own parents, and the importance of maintaining that relationship.

This is a deck I never considered before, but I like these two cards very much!

Hugs to you on your Birth-Day,
    Kiki

    Hi Sammie,
I have a 28 year old son, who lives very far away from me in Idaho. I haven’t seen him in 2 years either, and having always been close, it is very hard to accept.
I agree with your feelings about these 2 cards, and it helped me to remember that the Temperance can have a really positive side, rather than refer to “testing”!!
Happy Birth-Day to you Mom :)

Oh, gals and guy, Thanks so much for your kind comments! Your input and the cards have really made me feel so much better about things. I can hold onto that hope that in the near future things will change and we will all be closer again.

The Sharman-Caselli is a nice tarot deck – it has a happy feeling to it, which I like.

    Yet another gorgeous deck, Sammie!

I also note that you drew two majors – this is not insignificant. And the feeling this Temperance angel gives me is one of giving back what Fortune has temporarily turned away.

Notice the promise of the rainbow, as well as the Path of Glory – it’s rocky, but it leads to the Sun – and a place of perfect harmony. Which is really what Temperance is all about.

What a lovely interpretation of this Temperance card, Chanah. Thank you! You really have a wonderful way with words.
