Leidingkarten – New Arrivals!
July 18, 2008
Today, I tried out the deck of Leidingkarten (or Leiding Wahrsagekarten) I purchased from Germany at the same time as my Bärtschi Lenormand. They are a type of Kipperkarten – a 36 card deck similar to Lenormand Cards but not exactly like them.
The artwork on this deck is really nice, it’s soft and gentle and depicts modern scenes. Luckily, I found a translation of all the cards that Chanah posted on the AT forum:
Here are the cards:
- Card 17: Joy, Recognition, Praise (This is also a luck card and helps mitigate negative cards.)
- Card 18: Something New (baby) (usually positive)
- Card 32: Brooding, Worries
These cards really impressed me! They are so on the spot with this message - when I woke up this morning, I discovered that my cat had 5 kittens during the night! I was so happy that they had finally arrived and that all 5 of them seem very healthy and Jane (my cat) was being a very attentive and good mother even though this is the first time she’s had kittens. She is so proud of her new family – you can just sense that from her.
The brooding and worry card at the end doesn’t seem to fit in, but it does – in two different ways. The joy of the new arrivals and all the busy activity getting a good bed for Jane and the kittens set up and making sure everything was going well made me forget about brooding on the issue that has been on my mind. Also, I’ve already started to worry if I will be able to find good homes for all the babies when they get older as we can’t keep 5 cats. I also need to be sure I get Jane spayed when the kittens are weened because I don’t want her to have any more kittens. It upsets me that I was lax and didn’t get her spayed in the first place. I meant to -but, she got out of the house and ended up expecting before I got her to the vet.
Anyway, here are some pictures of my sweet new babies!

They are small but not super tiny. It will be fun to watch them grow.

Oh my god, they’re so cute! So tiny!!! My kids are fawning all over the photos! They’re begging me now, “Can we get Sophie to have kittens??? Pleeeeease???” LOL!!
Those are really nice looking cards! And how accurate!

Oh Sammie! they are sooo adorable!
It’s a good thing I don’t live near you, or I think we’d have another cat! I miss my kittie-
the last card probably just refers to you having your hands full and stressing a bit over all the new additions-
as you said, it’s joyful, but brings new responsibilities.
They’re beautiful, and I’m sure there will be some loving people who will be very excited to welcome them-
I saved Chanah’s list too a few months back!! I’m fascinated with the Kipper cards. I’ll be drawing them on my card blog too
love,
Spirity

Congratulations on your baby cats, lol!
I love those cards! One more deck I will have to think about…
I agree in that I doubt the worries will be much more than what would be “typical” when there are new additions to the family. Everyone goes through a period of worries while the adjustment is made and everyone finds their new place in the (family) structure. There will be plenty of change and new worries while the kittens grow strong enough to be seperated from their mother. It’s natural.
Thank you for sharing!

Sammie, the kittens are SO beautiful.
Perhaps that ‘worry’ card simply depicts you or your husband ‘looking’ out for new homes for the little ones.
Hope you find homes for them all!

Hi Everyone,
Thanks for the comments. The kittens really are keeping me busy helping their mother take care of them. I can really see where the worry card comes in!
They are all doing well – growing and healthy. Two of them are slightly smaller than the other three so a couple of times a day I’ve been putting the larger 3 in a basket that I put in the kitchen and leave the smaller 2 with her in their bed in the laundry room for a while so they get a chance to nurse without being pushed away. The smaller two have already almost caught up in size with having this chance to nurse without being shoved away.

I have to chime in – they’re absolutely adorable! And you are a marvellously talented photographer – but you already know that, or you should
