Gypsy Fortune Cards – Over and Under Spread

Recently, I purchased a book about using the Gyspy Fortune cards though a seller on eBay. It is really a super book called “Fortune Telling with Gypsy Cards” by Esther Gombor.

It is very well written, there is a two page section for every card with a picture of the card on one side and lots of possible meanings along with combinations on the other side:

Along with all the information on the cards, there is historical information about the Gypsy Fortune Cards and many different spreads and a lot of really good information on how to read cards and be compassionate while you are helping people with their problems through card reading.

The lady selling the book on eBay is the author – she lives in Canada and is very nice. I’m very pleased I bought the book! This book along with all the wonderful information about Gypsy Cards on Madame Seaqueen’s blog gives you treasure trove of knowledge on these cards!

Receiving the new book made me decide to try the Over and Under spread with the Gypsy Fortune Cards to see how it worked. Previously, I’d only ever used this spread with Lenormand Cards.

The Lenormand Oracle – Over and Under Spread

The bottom row represents something that is under you – something that is going on now or has recently happened. The top row represents what will happen now that the issue on the bottom row has happened. You can also read the diagonals and vertical rows for more information on the issue.

Now for the interpretation!

Under:

• Gift
• Money
• House

It was really interesting to read my new book about each of the cards in this spread. Gift doesn’t have to be an actual gift. In this case, I think the cards are showing that I’ve received some money at my home. This is true – we had a nice, unexpected refund from the government with our taxes. It turns out we payed way more than we owe and they sent it back. Also, not so long ago, I received a small inheritance from an elderly Aunt of mine who passed away.

Over:

• Some Money
• Baby
• Unexpected Joy

Now the cards seem to be saying that using some of the money to start something new or get something new is going to bring unexpected joy.  My new book gives a combination meaning for Baby and Unexpected Joy – the start of a new and joyful project or situation. So, using some of the money might bring this about – that sounds nice!

Diagonal One:

• Gift
• Sweetheart
• Unexpected Joy

Very obvious meaning! Receiving this money did cause some very unexpected joy!

Diagnonal Two:

• Some Money
• Sweetheart
• House

I think the cards are pointing out that I should spend some money on fixing up my house. It really does need some things done to it. The kitchen is getting very old and shabby and the carpet in the living room is in dire need of replacing.

Vertical:

• Baby
• Sweetheart
• Money

This seems to be the crux of the whole reading – it will seem like a fresh start for me with having enough money to get things accomplished.

The Over and Under Spread worked very well with these cards! I’m excited to use the Gypsy Fortune Cards more now since I received the book about them.

I also tried this spread with the Italian deck, La Facile Sibilla Reginale, which I used in this post:

It didn’t work very well – too many people cards are in the deck.

Gypsy Fortune Cards & Leidingkarten – A Message

Today, I ended up drawing cards from two decks. First, I drew three cards from the Gypsy Fortune Telling Cards. I’ve had this deck a long time but haven’t used them in a while. Here are the cards:

• Love: Emotional situation involving feelings. Romance. The love of a person or thing.
• Unexpected Joy: A situation comes up that started horribly and turned out great. Like the party you don’t want to go but end up having the best time of your life. Getting good news about a worrisome condition.
• Message: Usually the news is verbal. Waiting for some results. Look to the card beside it for an explanation as to the type of message it is.

This could be interpreted in several ways: a message from someone I love could bring unexpected joy, a message about something I love could bring expected joy, a message that someone loves me brings joy, a message from someone I love that they have some unexpected joy in their life or even a message about people in love getting engaged! There could be even more possibilities!

Gypsy (Gipsy) Fortune Telling Cards

Since the three Gypsy cards could be interpreted in so many ways - for clarification, I drew three cards from my Leidingkarten deck:

• Card 12: Younger Woman
• Card 22: The Officer – can be military or any man in an official position
• Card 25: Occupation, School, Older People, Success – positive card

There might be two possibilities for this. My niece who is a young woman in her early 20’s has applied to get into a radiology technician school and she is waiting to hear from the ‘powers that be’ to see if she has been accepted. Also, my DIL in Philadelphia, a young woman in her late 20’s, has applied for a scholarship and is waiting to hear from the people who administer the scholarship to find out whether she will receive it.

The two draws together seem to indicate that perhaps the message in the Gypsy Cards might be some good news from my niece or DIL soon! I’m hoping things will work out for both of them.
