• Card 20:  Home, House, Stability (Positive)
• Card 17:  Joy, Recognition, Praise (This is also a luck card and helps mitigate negative cards.)
• Card 07:  Contacts, Letters, News (Usually positive.)

The house card can represent your current home but it can also represent your childhood home and can even refer to your close family.  In this drawing, I think the house is referring to my childhood home – I’ve been feeling all morning that my Mom would really like me to call today.  She is a widow and gets lonely and needs to have someone to talk to so she feels that sense of recognition and joy.  When I call her, I get that same sense of recognition and connection as well – it is good for both of us!  As soon as I get my work done around the house, I’m going to call her for a nice long chat.

I’m reminded by these cards how important it is to stay connected with family and friends – all of us need to take the time to call or e-mail those we love whom we don’t see in person very often.  Being in touch with people you love brings that sense of togetherness, belonging and recognition that is so important to happiness.  It gives everyone that feeling of stability and groundedness to be a part of a supportive family or thought of by a friend.  Family doesn’t really have to mean “blood relations” either – I think it can mean any group of like minded individuals who care for each other. 

Today, I will also take time to e-mail my son and daughter-in-law in Philadelphia.  I will also answer an e-mail letter from a lovely friend!

The cards mirror something that has been going back and forth in my mind for several weeks now.  I’ve been concerned about the health of a young woman who is very dear to me, like a daughter in law.  Not her physical health, but her mental health.

For one thing, she has become paranoid about her weight and will hardly eat anything.  She is not over-weight and does not need to lose any weight but she thinks she needs to lose weight.  She has become so overly controlling of her children that their life is not very enjoyable.  She has also become obsessed about a girlfriend her husband had 12 years ago before he even knew her – she is so jealous of this woman that it is really affecting her relationship with her husband. 

Even more worrying, she has become paranoid that people are doing things just to hurt and upset her.  When she attends family gatherings she really thinks that certain people have been invited by the hostess just to hurt and upset her.  It really concerns me and I don’t know what to do about it.  I’ve tried to very gently say that she is making mountains out of molehills but she gets angry and miffed.

Hopefully, this phase will pass.

Gypsy Fortune Cards & Leidingkarten – A Message

In that post, the first deck indicated there would be good news from or about someone I love; then, I drew three cards from the Leidingkarten to see what that good news was about.

Here is an except from the post of July 27, 2008:

Card 12: Younger Woman

Card 22: The Officer – can be military or any man in an official position

Card 25: Occupation, School, Older People, Success – positive card

There might be two possibilities for this. My niece who is a young woman in her early 20’s has applied to get into a radiology technician school and she is waiting to hear from the ‘powers that be’ to see if she has been accepted. Also, my DIL in Philadelphia, a young woman in her late 20’s, has applied for a scholarship and is waiting to hear from the people who administer the scholarship to find out whether she will receive it.

Well, last night I was talking to my Mom on the phone and she finally remembered to tell me that my niece had been accepted into radiology technician school “about a month ago”  – she had forgotten to tell me about it until now!

So, she would have heard the news about the time I drew these cards! It is always nice when something you see in the cards actually happens.

I’ve been so busy lately with the kittens and family that I haven’t had much time to blog. I’m hoping to have more free time the rest of this week.

It seems like these three cards are a reflection of what was going on at the time I drew them. There is an older man in the room with me and we are filling that space with the joy of each other’s company. It is so nice that the cards seem to be affirming this. Anyone who reads my blog regularly knows about my “perpetually cranky” and petulant husband. It seems like a miracle to me that we can sit in a room together, each doing our own thing, and not have him getting impatient and cranky and wanting to be anywhere but in the same room with me.

He used to put out so much negative energy that I couldn’t even think about doing any work with my cards when he was in the same room. It is so nice that things have been changing for the better.

The translation for the Older Man card gave me a chuckle,  it can mean literally - Ripened Man!

• Love: Emotional situation involving feelings. Romance. The love of a person or thing.
• Unexpected Joy: A situation comes up that started horribly and turned out great. Like the party you don’t want to go but end up having the best time of your life. Getting good news about a worrisome condition.
• Message: Usually the news is verbal. Waiting for some results. Look to the card beside it for an explanation as to the type of message it is.

This could be interpreted in several ways: a message from someone I love could bring unexpected joy, a message about something I love could bring expected joy, a message that someone loves me brings joy, a message from someone I love that they have some unexpected joy in their life or even a message about people in love getting engaged! There could be even more possibilities!

Gypsy (Gipsy) Fortune Telling Cards

Since the three Gypsy cards could be interpreted in so many ways - for clarification, I drew three cards from my Leidingkarten deck:

• Card 12: Younger Woman
• Card 22: The Officer – can be military or any man in an official position
• Card 25: Occupation, School, Older People, Success – positive card

The two draws together seem to indicate that perhaps the message in the Gypsy Cards might be some good news from my niece or DIL soon! I’m hoping things will work out for both of them.

Leidingkarten Meanings

Here are the cards:

These cards really impressed me! They are so on the spot with this message - when I woke up this morning, I discovered that my cat had 5 kittens during the night! I was so happy that they had finally arrived and that all 5 of them seem very healthy and Jane (my cat) was being a very attentive and good mother even though this is the first time she’s had kittens. She is so proud of her new family – you can just sense that from her.

The brooding and worry card at the end doesn’t seem to fit in, but it does – in two different ways. The joy of the new arrivals and all the busy activity getting a good bed for Jane and the kittens set up and making sure everything was going well made me forget about brooding on the issue that has been on my mind. Also, I’ve already started to worry if I will be able to find good homes for all the babies when they get older as we can’t keep 5 cats. I also need to be sure I get Jane spayed when the kittens are weened because I don’t want her to have any more kittens. It upsets me that I was lax and didn’t get her spayed in the first place. I meant to -but, she got out of the house and ended up expecting before I got her to the vet.

Anyway, here are some pictures of my sweet new babies!

They are small but not super tiny. It will be fun to watch them grow.
