Oracle Soleil – Knowledge is Power
This is a new deck I received a few days ago called Oracle Soleil which means Sun Oracle in French. It is a 36 card deck but is nothing at all like a Lenormand deck. In fact, it is kind of a sister deck to L’Oeil de Lotus – it is by the same artist and the booklet says it is good to use the decks together.
The booklet is only in French so it is slow going for me to translate it. Google translation works for the bare bones but it really takes a lot more work to really get anything approaching an idiomatic translation.
Here is a translation of the first couple of sentences in the LWB:
“This deck, Oracle Soleil naturally found its place after L’Oeil de Lotus. It becomes an indispensable complement for divination because through cards evoking psychological situations or character traits it gives the means of understanding in an efficient way what should be done.
The Oracle can also be used alone, it will answer your questions and advise you in your choices, highlighting the dangers or reassuring you in opening the doors useful in given situations.”
I actually drew these three cards on Friday night and meant to get this post ready to publish by Sunday morning but got so involved in playing Mario Kart on Saturday night and all day Sunday (see yesterday’s post!) that l didn’t work on translation or do any work on my blog. So, hopefully, it’s better late than never!
Here are the cards:

These are the meanings from the book translated from French:
- Card 4 – Power or Force: Gestures and aggressive words have never resolved differences. You’re in a situation of opposition, the only way to express your power is to act humanely. Look at the one in front, not as an adversary but as another of yourself with which you are going to measure (evaluate?) in all honesty. The respect that you wear increases your capacities of attention and coordination. All that allows you to shine and make this transition a means to control the negative forces. The inner struggle over one aspect of personality should take place in the same way.
- Card 35 – Knowledge: This card in your spread/layout expresses your desire for internal enrichment. All areas attract you and you have the perspective to not accept everything indiscriminately. Your openness makes you tolerant, objective and your thirst for knowledge will guide you to areas that participate in your development. You know how to share your skills and your ability to reason makes you credible and capable of teaching with great authority. This card in your layout/spread supports expressing your erudition. You control your knowledge with the desire to enrich it. It inspires respect for all researchers and pioneers and encourages studies.
- Card 23 – Direction: Staying the course, dealing with the elements and the vagaries requires a lot of wisdom and rigor in making the decisions that will lead to some satisfaction at the end of the trail. Have confidence in your intuition and give yourself the time to get to the place you wanted – you are rewarded for your wisdom. Nature and its elements symbolizes life and makes controlling the boat difficult, then your strength lies in the flexibility to stay the course. Rigor and adaption, in equal measures, augment the strength to maintain.
These cards seem to be speaking so clearly about my marriage. One of the sentences from the Puissance (Power) meaning is very telling – you are in a situation of opposition. My husband is a very cranky, impatient and obstinate man and has been this way for the 30 years we’ve been married. As the cards are saying, instead of fighting fire with fire, I’ve been trying to understand why he is this way and then trying to help him understand why he has all this pent up anger and resentment.
It has been a long process, but I really do think I understand (to a point) why this behavior pattern got started at the beginning of our marriage and I think he’s beginning to understand as well. This understanding of why something is happening is the only way something can be done about it so we can know what direction to take in order to ”stay the course” and have a happy marriage.
These seem to be serious cards and I’m impressed with the wisdom that can be gained from just three cards. So far, I’ve only translated the book meanings for these three cards. Each time I use the deck, I’ll translate whichever cards turn up until I eventually get them all done. It will be interesting to try using them with L’Oeil de Lotus as well. I’ll have to translate the book on how they recommend doing that and then see if I want to come up with my own way instead.
I bought this deck from a seller on the French eBay. He also sells L’Oeil de Lotus and Oracle of the Triad. The shipping was very reasonable – only 3 Euros to the USA and the package arrived very quickly.
